Silent Day of Recollection on October 21, 2023

The 2023 Silent Day of Recollection for the Lay Carmelite Bay Area Region will be held at the Carmelite House of Prayer in Napa, CA on Saturday, October 21, 2023. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and is $30, to be paid at the door. Light breakfast, lunch and snacks will be available. Wear your scapular and bring your Liturgy of the Hours.

World Youth Day 2023. On Wednesday, August 2nd, the Carmelite family from around the world—Carmelite friars, sisters, youth animators, and young people—gathered at Lisbon’s St. Antonio of Cavalerios, a Carmelite parish of the Portuguese Commissariat. They came to celebrate the Carmelite Day—a day for the Carmelite family to be together during the World Youth gathering in Lisbon, Portugal.

Letter from Míċeál O’Neill, O.Carm, Prior General of the Carmelite Order. The 16th of July unites people all around the world in celebration and thanksgiving for the gift of our love for Mary, the Mother of God, under the title of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. In our tradition we recognise Mary as both Mother and Sister. Under both of these titles I would like to reflect with you this year on the world in which we live, that world which God so loves and has always loved that he sent his only Son into it to be its Saviour.

Each night during the novena we will reflect on one or more aspects of this topic as we honor Mary and seek her guidance along our Carmelite journey.
